Memorandum of cooperation on scientific research, education and technical cooperation with Sharklab ADRIA and the Department of Genetics and Biomedical Engineering CMFB of the National Geographic Team was signed on March 23, 2018.

The Memorandum was signed at the premises of the Institute for Metrology of BiH, regarding cooperation with the mentioned departments of National Geographic through joint participation in international projects, scientific-research activity in the realization of international and local projects, participation in the realization of expert activities, exchange of scientific experiences and achievements, exchange of publications, organization and participation in scientific and professional conferences, courses, seminars and workshops as well as joint publication of expert and scientific literature.

Sharklab ADRIA (http://sharklab-adria.org) represents a unique department within Sharklab International, an official European association for scientific research and long-term in-situ conservation of sharks and rays, as well as the improvement of the educational system at the university level. This research is based on ecology, functional morphology, pathology, radiology, molecular biology and genetics, microbiology, etc. Over the past ten years, Sharklab has been active in local research departments in Europe, Asia and Africa based in Malta, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain, Bangladesh, South Africa, France, as well as Australia. Sharklab researchers have published more than 200 articles, scientific papers, and several books. In addition to their own scientific research and educational activities, they also act as an advisory agency in many areas of biology, veterinary medicine and biomedicine such as ecology, biosynthesis, taxonomy, histology, embryology, pathology, histopathological parasitology, genetics, radiology, biomedicine, microbiology, physiology as well as a wide spectrum of underwater activities.

The Institute for Metrology of BiH will, with its laboratory capacities and expertise, support scientific and research activities related to the analysis of the content of heavy metals and organic pollutants in collected samples of water, sediments and tissues of marine and other aquatic organisms and provide expert support through dissemination of reference values ​​in the field of chemical and physical testing.
