Through the cooperation of the European Metrology Network for Statistics and Mathematics (MATHMET) and the Institute of Metrology of Portugal (IPQ), a Scientific Conference on the Application of Mathematical and Statistical Methods in Metrology MATHMET 2019 was organized. The conference was held at the National Institute of Civil Engineering of Portugal (LNEC) in Portugal, from November 19 to 22, 2019.
Employees of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina presented a paper / poster at the Conference on the implementation of measurement uncertainty in the Western Balkan countries:
''Implementation of GUM principles in the Western Balkan countries '' (Authors: A. Bošnjaković, M. Čaušević, V. Karahodžić, E. Jugo, H. Lulić and Z. Džemić).
Over eighty participants attended the Conference, including participants from other national metrology institutes such as Portugal (IPQ), United Kingdom (NPL), France (LNE), Germany (PTB), Netherlands (VSL), Poland (GUM).
The Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina had its representative A. Bošnjaković for the first time, who had the privilege of being a member of the Scientific Committee, and who worked on the review and approval of papers submitted for the Conference. The Scientific Committee was composed of prestigious experts from the European metrology community such as: Maurice Cox (NPL), Clemens Elster (PTB) Nicolas Fischer (LNE) Alistair Forbes (NPL), Antonio Possolo (NIST), Luca Zilberti (INRIM), Francesca Pennecchi (INRIM) and others.
The invited speakers at the Conference were:
Blaza Toman (Principal Research Scientist in the Data Science Group at NIST), Tony O’Hagan (Emeritus Professor of Statistics at the University of Sheffield) , Antónia Turkman (Professor in the Department of Statistics and Operations Research, Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon), Nicolas Fischer (Head of the Data Science and Uncertainty department at LNE), Peter Harris (Principal Research Scientist in the Data Science Group at NPL), Carola Schönlieb (Professor of Applied Mathematics at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, University of Cambridge), Clemens Elster (Head of the Data Science and Uncertainty department at PTB), Juris Meija (Senior research officer at the National Research Council Canada), i Wendy Parker (Professor of Philosophy and Co-Director of the Institute for Data Science).

Workshops for the following Metrology for the Factory of the Future (Met4FoF) scientific projects and the European Metrology Network for Mathematics and Statistics (MATHMET) have been held as part of the MATHMET 2019 conference. In both of these projects, IMBiH presented its research on project activities. The work of IMBiH researchers on the Met4FoF project has been praised by Coordinator Sascha Eichstaedt (PTB).
The participation of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina in prestigious conferences organized by leading institutions and networks in the field of metrology shows its willingness and determination to strengthen its leadership position in the field of metrology in the Region.
We also take this opportunity to announce and invite you to one of the most prestigious conferences in the field of applied mathematics in the field of metrology "Advanced Mathematical and Computational Tools in Metrology and Testing XII - AMCTM 2020" to be held in Sarajevo from September 15 to 17, 2020, organized by the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBiH) and the Institute of Metrology of the United Kingdom (NPL). The Conference is expected to be attended by over 80 participants from around the world, so make your application in a timely manner.
