From the 26th to the 28th of March 2019, 26th Meeting of the COOMET Technical Committee for Quality and the Quality Forum was held.

The Meeting was held in Chisinau, Moldova, organized by the Moldovan Institute of Metrology INM.

The Meeting was attended by representatives of: Russia, Georgia, Germany, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Moldova and representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Changes (revisions) of COOMET Technical Committee reference documents in accordance with the policies and plan of the COOMET Technical Committee on Quality for the transition of ISO 17034: 2016 and ISO 17025: 2017 in evaluating the Quality Management System at the National Metrology Institutes (NMI) and their designated institutes (DI) were presented at the Meeting.

The Meeting was dedicated to the analysis of annual reports in which COOMET members presented their quality management system. Additional questions or requests for clarification were identified by the experts responsible for reviewing the report, followed by the adoption of the report by the Technical Committee by Member States.

The COOMET organization uses two official versions of the ISO / IEC 17025 standard to evaluate quality management systems, in English and Russian.

A plan to move to the new edition of ISO 17034: 2016 was presented, with an October 2019 implementation deadline set.

The next meeting is also set to be held in Sochi, Russia, when Russian metrology institutes (3 in total), Kazakh NMI, Belarusian NMI and Ukrainian NMI will present their quality management systems (re-evaluation of QMS), followed by peer review of the same ones. It is proposed that all NMIs for which a peer review is planned in 2020, present QMS in September 2019 according to both ISO 17034: 2016 and ISO 17025: 2017 standards.
