The Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina became a member of the IMEKO

In October 2021, the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBiH) applied for membership in the International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO). Director of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. sc. Zijad Džemić, has participated in the 66th session of the General Council and the Technical Board of the IMEKO organization, held on August 28 and 29, 2022. in Berlin. On that occasion, IMBiH was officially accepted as a member of this organization. IMBiH has delegated its representatives to 14 technical committees of this organization.

IMEKO is a non-governmental federation founded in 1958. and currently has 42 Member Organizations individually concerned with the advancement of measurement technology. Its fundamental objectives are the promotion of

- international interchange of scientific and technical information

- in the field of measurement and instrumentation and

- the enhancement of international cooperation among scientists and engineers from research and industry.

The main body in IMEKO is the General Council and it consists of one or two members from each member state, and its activities are carried out by over 25 technical committees.
