Training course on measurement uncertainty and software quality for the Western Balkan Countries
Training course on measurement uncertainty and software quality for the Western Balkan Countries

Institute of metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina has organized an online training on measurement uncertainty and software quality in period 5. – 6. July 2022. The training was aimed at the national metrological institutes (NMIs), accreditation and standardization bodies, and designated institutes (DI) of the Western Balkan countries.

The training is organized in the scope of the European Metrology Network for Mathematics and Statistics (EMN MATHMET) initiative on measurement uncertainty training.

Lectures were given by experts from the following national metrological institutes: Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBIH), the Netherlands (VSL), Great Britain (NPL), France (LNE), Italy (INRIM), and Germany (PTB).

Topics covered encompass theoretical and practical approaches to GUM Uncertainty Framework, Monte Carlo (MC) Methods for Uncertainty Evaluation, Bayesian Method for Uncertainty Evaluation, Example of Uncertainty Propagation in GUM Session (multiplicative models) Using the GUM Method, Applying the Monte Carlo method with iterative calculations: errors in variables models, Example of Uncertainty Propagation in Inverse Models Using Bayesian Method, Machine Learning in Metrology, and QMS Software in Metrology.

The training was successfully realized with more than 50 participants from NMIs, accreditation, and standardization bodies of North Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Kosovo*, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
