Participation of LM IMBIH in the project in the field of liquid density - "EMPIR 17RPT02 rhoLiq"
The Laboratory for Mass and Related Quantities of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina (LM IMBIH)...

The Laboratory for Mass and Related Quantities of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina (LM IMBIH) participates in the EMPIR project 17RPT02 rhoLiq: “Establishing traceability for liquid density measurements” which started in 2018. The project brings together partners from eleven national metrology institutes in Europe, manufacturers of metrology equipment, and partners in the field of legal metrology and standardization. The aim of the project is to establish traceability and accompanying guides for fluid density calibration, which is achieved through two key intercomparisons:

- "EURAMET 1522" - at the primary level (hydrostatic weighing method, link: https://www.bipm.org/kcdb/comparison?id=1750)

- "EURAMET 1523" - at the secondary level (based on the principle of harmonic oscillations, link: https://www.bipm.org/kcdb/comparison?id=1751).

Both intercomparisons were performed in the range (800 - 1600) kg m-3. The implementation of intercomparisons enabled the improvement of calibration and measurement capabilities (CMC) of laboratories that already have a traceability chain for liquid density meters, i.e., enrollment of CMC in KCDB BIPM for participating laboratories, as is the case with IMBIH. The results are currently being processed and reports are being prepared for these two intercomparisons run by BEV, the Austrian National Metrology Institute. The project is also preparing three EURAMET guides: for hydrostatic weighing method and apparatus, for an oscillation-type densitometers, and a guide for the production of adequate CRM (certified reference material) for density, as well as a guide for good practice for the industry. In addition to participating in key intercomparisons, LM IMBIH has established internal procedures for calibration of liquid density meters at both levels, which, together with metrological expertise, will be the basis for providing services to clients in this field.

The initial period of project implementation 2018. - 2021. was extended due to the COVID19 pandemic to an additional twelve months. More about the project:
