On October 12-13, 2021, EURAMET TC-IM 1448 “Development of digital calibration certificates” working group has hosted a web – seminar on the status of development and implementation of digital calibration certificates (DCC) in national metrology institutes (NMIs). Over 60 participants from different NMIs have participated the seminar.

Digitization, the process of changing from analog to digital format has been in focus for few decades which has led to the digitalization, the process of using digital technologies and information to transform individual institutional operations. The output of both processes is a digital transformation, optimized and transformed institutions operations and strategic documents, DCC being one of them.

NMIs representatives from Germany (PTB), Estonia (Metrosert), Switzerland (METAS), Denmark (DFM), United Kingdom (NPL) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBIH) gave a presentation on the DCC status at their institutions. Continued engagement in working group TC-IM 1448, engagement with industry and development of optimized training and guidance material has been recognized as key activities for future developments.

In their presentation, IMBIH made a proposal on establishing DCC in NMIs that expressed an interest in establishing them. The result of TC-IM 1448 working group will be developed universal DCC that will be delivered to all NMIs in Europe and all stakeholders.

In scope of TC-IM 1448, PTB, VTT, LATMB and IMBIH have submitted Small Collaborative Project (SCP) on development of digital calibration certificate which if accepted for funding will set IMBIH as first NMI in region to work on DCC, implementing and teaching about digitalization in metrology and DCC.
