Based on the signed Annex 1 of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of Metrology of BiH (IMBIH) and the Bureau of Metrology of the Republic of Northern Macedonia (BoM), IMBIH experts held hands-on training in Skopje, in the period 28.06.2021.-02.07.2021. for the time and frequency (TF) laboratory staff of BoM. The aim of this training was to transfer knowledge and experience to colleagues in Northern Macedonia. The training covered the following topics:

-       Extension of calibration and measurement capabilities in the field of time and frequency: frequency calibration for frequency meters and frequency sources, practical measurements, analysis of measurement results and calculation of measurement uncertainty;

-       Reporting TF laboratory measurement results to the International Bureau of Weights and Measures in Paris (BIPM), use of measurement results for participation in UTC and UTCr;

-        Automation of the measurement process by programming the measuring equipment, basic principles of using the Phyton programming language and the Linux OS, communication with measuring instruments and remote control, and statistical analysis;

-       Steering of time scale UTC (BOM), analysis of BIPM UTC and UTCr data, calculation of frequency correction for atomic clock and reporting to BIPM;

-       Suggestions for future improvements, analysis of the current situation, detection of possible problems.

This practical training and knowledge transfer is the result of good cooperation between the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bureau of Metrology of Northern Macedonia, and will be very beneficial to colleagues in Northern Macedonia for the future development of their time and frequency laboratory.
