Institut za mjeriteljstvo Bosne i Hercegovine je bio organizator treninga iz oblasti procjene nesigurnosti mjerenja...

The Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBiH) hosted a two-day training on measurement uncertainty, which was online on 22,23 March 2021. The training course was at first targeted at staff at the Southeast Europe countries, ie. at NMIs, accreditation bodies, technical auditors and industry stakeholders.

Considering the great interest, as well as the possibility for online event, it was decided to increase the number of participants. There was 163 participants coming from 22 countries in total and 63 came from different national metrology institutes. Besides participants coming from the Southeast Europe, they also came from: Lithuania, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Spain, Italy, Malta, Sweden, Morocco and Sri Lanka.

The training addressed the topics of measurement uncertainty estimation using different methods for quantifying. Parallel sessions were held on uncertainty evaluation for physical and chemical quantities and quantities in medicine. Examples developed within the EMUE (Examples of Measurement Uncertainty Evaluation) project were presented and the lecturers were project partners. One of these sessions was devoted to conformity assessment as well as software for the evaluation of measurement uncertainty. Last session was devoted to participants. All of them had the opportunity to talk directly with the lecturers, and to show the problems in the process of quantifying the measurement uncertainty.

Course presenters were from IMBiH, and national metrology institutes Italy (INRIM), Portugal (IPQ), France (LNE), United Kingdom (NPL), Germany (PTB), Netherlands (VSL), as well as from UK's national accreditation body (UKAS) and UK's designated institute in the field of referent materials (LGC).

The complete training material is available to everyone and can be found on the following website:

Satisfaction with the overall result of the two-day training and the professional level of organization of the 12-hour training was expressed by the EMUE project coordinator, NPL associate, respected Professor Maurice Cox, who commend Alen Bošnjaković and other associates of the Institute of metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Director of the Institute expressed his gratitude to Professor Cox for the selected words of commendation and contribution through his participation in the training and in general through the authority he has in the world in this field, which certainly helped to keep the training at this level.

It was emphasized that organization of events of such value do not happen often even by more developed countries and institutions than ours, however, the Institute managed to do everything necessary on this occasion and make it be successful beyond all expectations.
