Director of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBiH) Zijad Džemić, Director of the National Metrology Institute of Turkey (TÜBITAK UME) Dr. Mustafa Çetintaş and the General Director of the Directorate for Metrology and Standardization at the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology (MIST) Necip Camuşcu signed a trilateral agreement in Sarajevo on October 10, 2017 for the purpose of mutual cooperation in the field of scientific and legal metrology.

A trilateral agreement was signed during a two-day visit of the Delegation of the Republic of Turkey. The aim of the visit was to exchange experiences in the field of metrology and to present current achievements and activities of IMBiH in the field of scientific and legal metrology on a -local and international level to the Turkish Delegation. This visit was followed by the signing of a trilateral agreement on the mutual satisfaction of both sides.

The agreement aims at improving the cooperation between the two countries and contributing to the strengthening of metrological capacity in the field of legal and scientific metrology. The capacity of IMBiH in the field of legal metrology was identified and interest for mutual cooperation in the field of automatic level gauges and medical devices with measuring function was expressed. Turkish Delegation also expressed an interest in adopting IMBiH practices with the aim of introducing these instruments in the field of legal metrology in the Republic of Turkey. Furthermore, an agreement was also reached on cooperation in joint EMPIR projects (European Metrology Program for Research and Innovation). This includes the preparation and writing of projects, providing mutual support in the implementation of projects, exchange of experiences in EMPIR projects, etc. In addition, a special interest in mutual cooperation in the area of volume and flow was expressed.

With this agreement, IMBiH continues its networking with respectable metrological institutions with the aim of improving the metrology system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
