IMBIH SIGNED A BILATERAL AGREEMENT WITH NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF METROLOGY OF CHINA

Zijad Džemić, General Director of Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Fang Xiang, the Director of the National Institute of Metrology of People’s Republic of China (NIM), signed a bilateral agreement in Beijing, China on September 19, 2018. The aim of the agreement is mutual cooperation in the field of scientific, industrial and legal metrology.

Prior to the signing of the agreement, a five-day visit to the National Institute of Metrology of the Republic of China was organized. The aim of the visit was to exchange experiences in the field of metrology and to get acquainted with current achievements and activities of NIM at the local and international level in the field of scientific, industrial and legal metrology. Furthermore, to our mutual satisfaction, special emphasis was placed on new areas of research in the field of metrology, such as digitalization in metrology, traceability in medicine, food safety, data processing (Big Data Analysis) and realization of certain units of measurement.

The agreement aims to improve cooperation between the two countries and strengthen metrological capacities in the field of scientific, industrial and legal metrology, but also to open up cooperation in new fields of research that deal with new challenges in the field of metrology. NIM recognized IMBIH’s capacities at the international level and they expressed their interest for mutual cooperation. This visit was the preparation for the signing of the bilateral agreement to the mutual satisfaction of signatories.

With the signing of this agreement, IMBIH continues to build up a network with important metrology organizations in the world in order to strengthen its capacities and improve metrology system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also to improve its recognition at the international level as essential and indispensable partner in dealing with issues of crucial importance for the future development of metrology.
