Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček with the delegation visited the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBiH) and its laboratories on June 11, 2019. The reason for this important visit is the long-term successful cooperation between IMBiH, the Czech Metrology Institute and the Czech Development Agency, within which, by the end of 2019, the project "Expanding Capacities and Services of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina" will be carried out, and for which the Czech partners provided € 870,000.
On that occasion, Minister Petříček expressed the satisfaction with the achieved results and the manner of work of IMBiH and announced that the support for the Institute will be continued by the year 2030.
"The Czech Development Agency has already facilitated this extremely successful cooperation between the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Czech Metrology Institute for 6 years. We are happy that we have been able to help IMBiH to develop its capacities and become the respectable, internationally recognized institution. For more than 20 years we have been working with Bosnia and Herzegovina in various fields and it is one of the six priority countries within our development programs. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, we annually implement around 50 projects, with a total budget of € 3.5 million. Bosnia and Herzegovina will remain our important partner in further projects and the priority country for us by 2030, "said Minister Petříček.
Director of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr sc. Zijad Džemić, Dipl.-Ing, thanked the Minister and delegation for today's visit and long-term cooperation and support.
"We have started the cooperation with the Czech Metrology Institute for almost 6 years and what is important is that we have not only provided equipment for our laboratories without which there is no measurements, but also help and support for the knowledge transfer. Taking the knowledge from the Institute that is among the top three in the European Union is of the immense importance for us. At present, we have 67 areas in which we are issuing certifications, which are recognized by the whole world, of which at least 20 are received thanks to the equipment, knowledge and laboratories we have established with the support of the Czech Metrology Institute and the Czech Development Agency. Today's visit is a confirmation of our successful cooperation and our mutual trust, "said Dr sc. Zijad Džemić.
The project "Expanding Capacities and Services of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina II" is a continuation of the project "Expansion of the Capacity of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina", which was completed in December 2016, with the total worth around € 660,000.
By this 30-month project many laboratories are supported: Time and Frequency Laboratory, Laboratories for Measurements of the Quantity Liquid and Gaseous Fuels, Laboratory for Testing the Quality of Liquid Fuels and Lubricants, Laboratory for Liquid Density and Laboratory for Ionizing Radiation.
