On 8. May 2017., annual meeting of the SMIIC Metrology Committee (The Standards and Metrology Institute for the Islamic Countries - Institute for Standardization and Metrology of Islamic countries) was held.
This was the fourth meeting SMIIC Metrology Committee, which meets annually. The meeting was held in Istanbul, Turkey, it was organized by the Turkish Metrology Institute (UME). The representatives of the following countries were at the meeting: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cameroon, Gabon, Gambia, Gulfmet (regional metrological organizations from the Gulf), Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Mali, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Jordan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is a member of this organization, was represented by the director of the Institute Mr. Zijad Dzemic. Director Dzemic gave a presentation on "The priorities in the development of national metrology institutes".
The meeting included the following activities: presentation of new internal regulations, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the individual members SMIIC and the state of development and the current situation of the national metrology bodies. The meeting was agreed on technical support for strengthening capacities of metrology, training, procurement of equipment and intercomparisons between member SMIIC's. Based on this agreement action plan for 2018. was agreed.
One of the main points of the meeting was the election of a new Chairman and his deputy of Metrological Committee SMIIC's. Trust for presidency of the SMIIC metrological Committee after the expiry of the first term of three years, again get mr. Mustafa Çetinaş(Director of the Institute for Metrology, Turkey – UME ) , as Chairman and mr. Zijad Džemić ( Director of the Institute of metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina )as Deputy Chairman of the SMIIC Metrology Committee.
