From 11 to 12 May, representatives of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the EURACHEM workshop “Quality in Analytical Measurements: Uncertainty Evaluation and Interpretation of Results”, held in Lisbon, Portugal. The workshop brought together experts in the field of analytical chemistry with the aim of exchanging experiences and discussing contemporary approaches to measurement uncertainty evaluation and method validation.

Particular focus was placed on the practical challenges of evaluating measurement uncertainty based on precision and recovery data obtained through in-house method validation, as well as on modelling changes in measurement uncertainty across the analytical range. Discussions also covered risk management related to incorrect conformity assessment decisions, accreditation requirements for qualitative analyses, and the evaluation of uncertainty arising from sampling.

As part of the poster session, representatives of the Institute presented a paper entitled “Long-Term Analytical Performance and Stability of Silver Alloy Reference Materials”, addressing the stability of silver alloy reference materials. This topic is particularly relevant given that the Institute is a producer of reference materials in the field of precious metals. The paper described an experimental study conducted on silver alloy reference materials and provided evidence of their long-term stability.

Participation in the workshop enabled the Institute’s representatives to exchange knowledge and experience with experts in analytical chemistry, while also gaining insight into the latest approaches and challenges in the field of quality assurance of analytical measurements.
