The Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBiH) has commissioned a system for the realization of the triple point of Argon and the primary calibration of SPRT thermometers at the temperature of the triple point of Argon.

The Laboratory for Temperature and Humidity of IMBiH, in cooperation with the Low Temperature Laboratory of the PTB Institute in Germany, carried out the European MSA project (Mentoring Scheme Awards) during the period March–May 2026. The project aimed at training IMBiH staff, commissioning the system for the realization of the triple point of argon, and implementing technical improvements to the original system.

Completion of the project established the technical prerequisites for the primary calibration of SPRT thermometers at the triple point of argon (-189.3442 °C). The measurement results obtained confirmed that the system is functional and stable, enabling the introduction of a new service for users in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This opens the possibility of continued work towards participation in international intercomparisons and the expansion of the laboratory’s proven measurement capabilities up to the triple point of Argon.
