The Director of the Institute of Metrology of BiH from 13th to 17th October, participated at the 60th meeting of the International Committee for Legal Metrology, the 17th Conference of the International Organization for Legal Metrology (OIML), and the 24th anual meeting of the directors of national metrology institutes and representatives of member states in Paris.

The Institute of Metrology of BiH is a Corresponding member of the International Organization for Legal Metrology (OIML), as well as an associate of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM). Together with other countries of the world, through these international organizations, Institute actively participates in the work of their bodies, following the best world practice in legal metrology, and the development of the latest world metrological achievements, as well as scientific metrology in prestigious metrology institutes from around the world.

This year, the 70th anniversary of the International Organization for Legal Metrology was solemnly celebrated. The meeting of the International Committee for Legal Metrology was attended by 55 Member States, as well as 12 Corresponding member and 5 Liason organizations. The International Bureau of Legal Metrology (BIML) presented a progress report on the organization's technical work, and the Committee approved lists of high-priority projects and publications. The following publications were approved:

-          Revision of OIML R 142:2008 Automated refractometers,

-          Amendment to OIML R 111:2004 Weights of classes E1, E2, F1, F2, M1, M1-2, M2, M2-3 and M3,

-          Revision of R 91:1990 Radar equipment for measuring vehicle speed, which will be published under the new title: Speed meters in traffic,

-          Revision of OIML B 18:2022 Framework for the OIML Certification System (OIML-CS).

The topics of the 24th meeting of the directors of national metrology institutes and representatives of member states were: Tackling global challenges with metrology in a coordinated way, Metrology in food and water: ensuring quality, safety and compliance, The strategic role of metrology in the energy sector, and the Impact and success stories from “Horizontal Groups” in regional metrology organizations. Participants of the meeting were also informed about current events in the work of the CIPM.

Participation in meetings of international organizations for legal and scientific metrology at the highest level is always an opportunity to exchange experiences with partners around the world about the latest achievements, plans for the future and current topics in these areas in the world.
