The Laboratory for Ionizing Radiation (LR) IMBIH Confirms Calibration and Measurement Capabilities and Publishes CMC in the KCDB BIPM

The Laboratory for ionizing radiation (LR), or the Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory (SSDL) of the Institute for Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBIH), has recently achieved a significant milestone in its field. The laboratory's calibration and measurement capabilities (CMC) in the field of ionizing radiation have now been officially published in the Key Comparison Database (KCDB) of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM).

This success is the result of the laboratory's active participation in EURAMET intercomparisons, including the Bilateral Comparison for H(10) Calibration Coefficients for Photon Radiation (EURAMET #1531). Through these activities, LR has demonstrated its measurement capabilities and established an international chain of traceability for its measurement results, further confirming its presence on the global metrology stage.

The laboratory has proven its competence in measuring dosimetric quantities such as ambient and personal dose equivalents (Hp(10), Hp(0.07), and H(10)), for gamma (Cs-137) and X (N-series) radiation. These services are now recognized and accepted by National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) worldwide, as they are automatically recognized through the published CMCs in the KCDB database.

This achievement allows our clients to receive calibration services in Bosnia and Herzegovina that are in line with the highest global standards.

The laboratory will continue to expand its measurement capabilities and expects the confirmation of new competencies in the coming year, further broadening its scope of services.
