At the invitation of the GULFMET regional metrology organization, Šejla Ališić, IMBiH mass expert, held a workshop on the topic: Calibration of non-automatic Weighing Instruments  (NAWI), with the aim of transferring knowledge and improving expertise in GULFMET countries. This workshop was held as one of three that took place within the framework of the 2nd Metrology Forum on April 22 and 23, 2024 in Dubai.

The workshop covered a wider aspect of this topic: the traceability of measurements in the area of ​​mass, the difference between calibration and verification as a way of confirming the measurement result of NAWI, the performance of the NAWI calibration method in accordance with EURAMET guide 18 and the estimation of measurement uncertainty to present a reliable and recognized result of NAWI calibration. The workshop included a large number of participants from GULFMET countries: the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan, who were participants from national metrology institutes, research centers, the academic community, the regulatory or government sector, and accredited laboratory. The company Himatrix - Radwag, as one of the gold sponsors of the 2nd Measuring Forum, provided scales for the practical part of this workshop, and after the workshop, organized a visit of the participants to this company.

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) of the United Arab Emirates, in cooperation with the Gulf Organization for Standardization (GSO), organized this event on the topic: "Metrology for Sustainability" with the aim of discussing the role of metrology in strengthening industrial capacities and supporting sustainability, and advanced activities by exchanging experiences with scientists. The forum was attended by representatives of: BIPM, OIML, IMEKO, EUROLAB, regional metrology organizations and national metrology institutes of the Gulf region and beyond. IMBIH, as an associated member of the GULFMET organization, contributed to this event by holding this workshop.

After the Forum, BIPM representatives, Dr. Anna Cypionka, Director of the Department for International Connection and Cooperation, Mr. Chingis Kuanbayev, Head of the Capacity Building Department, and IMBIH representative, Mrs. Šejla Ališić, Assistant Director for Industrial Metrology, had the honor of visiting the laboratories of Emirates Metrology Institute (EMI) in Abu Dhabi, representing the UAE National Metrology Institute, and met with Mr. Ali Awadh Al Menhali, Director of Scientific & Industrial Metrology Dept at EMI, Mr. Mohammed Al Mulla, EMI Quality Manager and Mr. Osama Ahmed Melhem, adviser from Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council.
