The workshop was organized under the EMPIR 20NRM05 iMet-MRI Improved Metrology for Quantitative MRI (https://empir.npl.co.uk/imet-mri/), where the IMBIH participates as an Internal-Funded Partner. It was held in the premises of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We appreciate their contribution to supporting this workshop.
The project iMet-MRI provides the current state-of-the-art in metrology for the qMRI illustrating how the metrological principles can support and give added value to normative and related practices. This project brings together experts from ten national metrology institutes and partners from university hospitals and industry. The project is coordinated by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL).
The workshop covered the fundamental understanding of metrology principles applied in the quantitative MRI. It also helped to better understand the current state of the art in metrology for the qMRI. The expected workshop outcome was gaining knowledge regarding the current state-of-the-art in metrology for the qMRI developed through the iMet-MRI project.
The workshop was aimed at all who want to improve their knowledge regarding metrology principles for the qMRI, MR physicists and hospital personnel working with these devices.
The workshop was attended by more than 30 participants from six different countries, including Great Britan, Italy, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Furthermore, it was pleasure to have attendees from following organization: the Clinical Centre of Sarajevo University, University Sarajevo School of Science and Technology, University Clinical Centre of Banja Luka, International Burch University, and Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, we would like to thank all for their active participations. Specially, iMet-MRI team wants to thank attendees from the Clinical Centre of Sarajevo University and University Sarajevo School of Science and Technology for their active participations in the Q&A sessions. Their interesting and challenging questions made this workshop more interesting for all and raised fruitful and productive discussions.
The presentations presented at the workshop covered the following topics:
· What is Metrology and Uncertainty Quantification
· Metrology Standards in MRI
· iMet-MRI overview project outcomes
· Quality Assurance in MRI (Medical Physicist Perspective)
· Phantoms for Quantitative MRI
· Data Analysis – Digital Tools and Data Quality
· Scan Protocols and Multi Site
We would also like to thank our partner, DIH-its4Health, for supporting IMBIH in the organization of this workshop. IMBiH became a member of the EURAMET research programs in 2014, and by organising this workshop, we have shown that we are their active member. Last but not least, we would like to thank all lecturers for their workshop contributions.
