The Kick-off meeting of the new research project "Traceability for indentation measurements in Brinell-Vickers-Knoop hardness" was held in Istanbul, Turkey, on October 19 and 20, 2023.
The 22RPT01 TracInd BVK-H project consortium consists of 14 participants from 9 EURAMET member states. The coordinator of this project is TUBITAK-UME, Turkey. In addition to Turkey, national metrology institutes are included in this project: Germany (PTB), Italy (INRIM), Austria (BEV), Czech Republic (ČMI), Poland (GUM), Moldova (INM), Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBiH), as well as named institute from Slovenia (ZAG).
The Institute of Metrology BIH is a participant in this project, and its goal is to improve knowledge related to the field of hardness, as well as to establish a chain of traceability for the field of hardness measurement in BiH. Another participant in this project from Bosnia and Herzegovina is the Kemal Kapetanović Institute, University of Zenica, which has long-term accredited laboratories, calibration and testing laboratories for hardness.
The project included the participation of non-financing partners from Italy and Germany, who expressed significant interest in it.
The overall goal of this project is to establish a traceable, consistent and reliable indentation measurement methodology, taking into account the influence of measurement parameters and instrument specifications, for the Brinell, Vickers and Knoop hardness scales. One of the planned results of the project is the preparation of Guidelines for establishing traceability in Brinell, Vickers and Knoop hardness indentation measurements from the national metrology level (NMI) to the end user level.
The project officially started on September 1, 2023 and will last for the next 36 months.
