In the period from September 18-22 2023, International IEEE Symposium on Precision Clock Synchronization, Control and Communication was held in National Physical Laboratory, London, United Kingdom. The representatives of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina were the authors of the reviewed article “National time scale of Bosnia and Herzegovina as timing and synchronization source in critical infrastructure”. The article presented our system developed for the distribution of time and frequency reference signals, synchronized with the national time scale UTC(IMBH), to the end user in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as the basis for future development of a larger national infrastructure for timing and synchronization to variety of industrial and scientific users across the country.

The conference was an opportunity to gain the knowledge and share experiences with the world-leading National Metrology Institutes, as well as improving the cooperation with world's largest technical professional society and companies implementing solutions in this area.

Time is underpinning our digital infrastructure, it’s the basis for synchronization of telecommunication networks and the energy power grids, financial services, transport etc. Our poor awareness of increasing dependency on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) as the source of time and sync, makes the named critical sectors vulnerable to a rapidly developing risks. Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina is dedicated to the further development of wider national key infrastructure for timing and synchronization in B&H and raising awareness of the importance of this topic in the future.
