On June 13 and 14, 2023, a meeting of the EMPIR 19RPT02 RealMass project "Improving the realization of the mass scale" was held at INRIM, the national metrology institute of Italy. The host of this meeting was Andrea Malengo, the leader of work package 3 on the project, which is in charge of creating the RealMass software. The INRIM expert is also a member of the mass consultative committee (CCM) at the BIPM and is the author of numerous professional articles. This meeting included representatives of participants from national metrology institutes: CMI Czech Republic, INRIM Italy, BEV Austria, IMBIH Bosnia and Herzegovina, BIM Bulgaria, SMD Belgium, INM-RO Romania, DMDM Serbia, ME-BoM North Macedonia, NSAI Ireland, while NSC-IM Ukraine, was present online.

The project has entered its final phase and has been extended until the end of December 2023. The current activities that need to be worked on in the project were discussed: Pilto Study 1556, led by IMBIH and BEV, where CMI is in charge of standard stability measurements, preparation of EURAMET of the calibration guide for the realization of real mass, led by BEV and NSAI, and about the final realization of the Real Mass Software that will be publicly available after the project, which is prepared by INRIM, about the preparation of individual strategies in NMI for the long-term development of research capabilities in the dissemination of the mass unit, that is, a strategy that enables partners to offer established enhanced calibration services in their country and neighboring countries, led by ME-BoM.

The participants had the opportunity to visit the INRIM laboratory for mass, density, and volume, which have many years of experience in these areas.
