World Metrology Day is celebrated on May 20, which marks the anniversary of the signing of the Meter Convention in 1875 and the beginning of official international cooperation in metrology.

The theme of World Metrology Day 2023 is Measurements supporting the global food system. Food plays a key role in human life and access to safe food at affordable prices is one of the biggest challenges for governments around the world.

The commemoration of this event took place on May 18, 2023. in the premises of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the presence of officials from state and entity institutions as well as legal entities from the fields of nutrition, pharmacy, and metrology. Presentations were held by experts of the Institute of Metrology of BiH from the laboratories for temperature and humidity, chemistry, and mass.
