The final meeting of the CEFTON project partners was held in Skopje from January 21st to January 24th, 2023. The CEFTON project, which started in 2021 and will conclude in 2023, is a consortium of four national metrology institutes including the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBiH), the Institute of Metrology of Moldova (INM - Institutul Național de Metrologie), the Institute of Metrology of North Macedonia (ME-BoM - Bureau of Metrology), and the Institute of Metrology of the Czech Republic (ČMI - Český metrologický institut).

The 18-month CEFTON project is being implemented as part of the European Metrology Program for Innovation and Research (EMPIR - EURAMET) with the aim of implementing appropriate metrology legislation related to eye pressure measurement in countries that have signed the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA). The project is aimed at strengthening the capacities of these countries in this field as they are unable to fully implement the requests of interested parties in terms of legal metrology.

The project partners received training on the verification of eye pressure measurement devices and related legal legislation at the Center of Excellence of the Metrology Institute of the Czech Republic (CMI). In addition, contacts were established with relevant stakeholders in CEFTA countries such as state regulatory agencies, accredited laboratories, and verification offices, with the goal of ensuring accurate and precise measurements through traceable results.

IMBiH coordinated Work Package 1 which was completed, delivered, and approved on time by the donors. Through this project, the CEFTA countries have gained knowledge for providing support to interested parties in this field and for introducing these devices in the field of legal metrology.

The final meeting, organized by ME-BoM, discussed the last activities of the project (Work Package 2 and 3) and their delivery to the project donor. The project partners will continue their cooperation with interested parties in their respective countries in terms of knowledge transfer in this field, and a smart specialization strategy in the field of eye pressure will be developed for the needs of CEFTA countries.
