Training on precious metals testing was held in the organization of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 05th to 09th December 2022, at the request of the National Metrology Institute from Malaysia (https://www.nmim.gov.my).
The training was carried out through theoretical lessons, numerous examples, and practical transfer of knowledge when performing methods for testing precious metals. The main topics covered in the training are:
- Quality system according to the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025; ISO/IEC 17043 and ISO 17034 implemented in the Institute of Metrology of BiH;
- Measurement traceability, Validation/Verification of testing methods, Control Charts, Measurement uncertainty, and Statistical data processing;
- Testing methods for testing precious metals;
- Registration of calibration and measurement capabilities (CMC) in the database of key intercomparisons (KCDB) in the International Bureau for Weights and Measures (BIPM).
The held training is the beginning of a good cooperation between the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the National Metrology Institute of Malaysia and will be beneficial to colleagues in Malaysia for the future development of testing and hallmarking of precious metals in their laboratory.
