Within the framework of the bilateral project "Expanding the Capacities and Services of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina II", supported by the Government of the Czech Republic through the Czech Development Agency (CDA), which is implemented in cooperation with the Czech Metrology Institute (CMI), training in the field of technical competences, metrology in industry and metrology in the free movement of goods (conformity assessment).

The training was held in the period of November 4-8, 2019, at the premises of the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and experts from the Czech Metrology Institute, Mr. Pavel Klenovsky, Dr.sci. and Mrs. Simona Klenovska, Dr.sci.

Two workshops were organized within the training.

On November 6, the first workshop was held on the main topic of traceability of the metrology in the industry. Vertical and horizontal traceability are explained through the examples from interlaboratory comparisons organized by CMI. The presentation was dedicated to the application of industry metrology through examples from the Czech Republic, where the industrial tradition has deep roots. The situation in the Czech Republic has been clarified since the 1990s, when it joined the EU (March 2004), and the support of metrology during the development of industry. The examples presented will serve the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina in further development to meet the needs of the local industry.

The workshop, held on November 7, was focused on the role of metrology in the free movement of goods. Through the workshop, regulated, as well as unregulated, and EU harmonized and non-harmonized areas were clarified, through examples and clarifications of EU legislation, as well as its strengths and weaknesses. This presentation was particularly important for IMBiH in terms of possible accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union. Relevant EU legislation directives are presented. The presentation explains how to become a Notified Body and the experiences of CMI in this area.

Upon completion of the training, participants in both workshops received Certificates of Participation, which were handed to them in the presence of the General Director of IMBiH.
